HOTELS IN THE GRAND CANYONI think I'll be happy with the Yavapai Lodge on here Grand Canyon Lodges Yavapai Lodge is Grand Canyon National Park Lodges' largest facility and is surrounded by pinyon and juniper woodlands, about 1/4 mile from the rim. With modern rooms and many services within a few steps, this is a convenient choice for families. Yavapai East rooms feature in-room air conditioning and Yavapai West rooms have vaulted ceilings with ceiling fans. The Lodge is located next to the Market Plaza, which includes a general store, bank, and U.S. Post Office. The National Park Service Visitor Center is within a short walk - approximately 1/2 mile. You will also find a coin-operated laundry within 1/2 mile of the lodge. Yavapai Lodge features a cafeteria that is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The curio shop has a wide range of gifts and a transportation / activities desk is located in the lobby. Most rooms offer two queen beds and there are a limited number of rooms with one king bed. All rooms have television, telephone, and full baths. There are also wheelchair-accessible rooms. Yavapai Lodge is normally open March through November and during winter holiday periods. The other accommodation inside the canyon (though not IN the canyon) - these hotels (Katchina etc) have no air conditioning and sound a little scruffy for around $165 a night. BW Grand Canyon Squire - 2 queen beds for around $140 a night - and nothing special Quality Inn - 2 room suites (either 2 queens or a king + sofa bed) available @ $170, whoops (I can't seem to get to the Grand Hotel - will keep trying). Red Feather Lodge (Rodeway Inn) - unpretentious and nothing to write home about - 2 queens for around $120 pn. Holiday Inn Express (via Expedia) - 2 double beds for $75ish Quite stumped on this one. Moqui Lodge (and and here) may be worth considering. Grand Canyon Motel, Valle? or the Grand Canyon Inn, Valle Back |
